Sherry Wallace, CPA

Sherry Wallace has been a tax professional in Atlanta for over 25 years.  Her experience in both corporate tax departments and Big 4 firms enables her to work well within a corporate tax environment and to partner with other departments and stakeholders.  To help you further evaluate her abilities, here is a listing of Sherry’s experience:

Tax Compliance:  Sherry has prepared and reviewed separate company and consolidated corporate Federal income tax returns as well as quarterly estimate and extension calculations.  She has extensive experience in partnership returns and their income flow into corporate entities.  Additionally, she has managed the State income tax compliance process, including review of apportionment calculations, filing methodologies and consolidated returns.

Partnerships:  Sherry has performed tax accounting and compliance functions for all aspects of a partnership’s life, from formation to dissolution, including accounting for operations, contributions, dispositions, sales of partnership interests, and tax bases of partnership interests.

Federal and State Audits:  Sherry has had extensive involvement with the Federal audit process, including planning the audit, preparing responses to IDRs, and preparing and reviewing rebuttals to notices of proposed adjustment. She has worked with state auditors, providing both oral and written responses to questions and defending tax positions.

Tax Accounting:  Sherry has worked in multiple aspects of accounting for income taxes, including preparing quarterly tax accounting entries and tax account reconciliations, determining proper treatment of new items and non-routine transactions, and performing provision to return true-up analyses, deferred proof analyses, and payable proof analyses.

Mergers and Acquisitions:  During her time in industry, Sherry worked with the M&A team on projects related to acquisition and disposition of companies from due diligence to acquisition integration phases.

Project Management Services:  Sherry’s history highlights her project management skills and ability to work within a corporate tax environment.  She has established an income tax compliance division for a $21 billion company, including recruiting and training personnel, selecting accounting and compliance software, and integrating activities with the corporate accounting function.  More recently, she has initiated a multi-step corporate reorganization, working with accounting, legal, and other departments to see the project through completion.


Sherry’s most recent engagement was at Novelis, Inc.  Her career experience prior to joining Steele Consulting includes employment with Gentiva Health Services, Inc., BellSouth Corporation (now AT&T), and Arthur Andersen.


Sherry earned a Masters of Accounting with a specialization in tax from the University of Florida.
